“Apollo 13” A beloved story of perseverance and overcoming a hopeless situation in outer space.

Aspects as an excellent group drama
Speaking of realistic recreations, we must not forget not only the interior of the Apollo 13, but also the control room in Houston and the Jim Lovell house where his wife and children await. This film is a closed-room drama in which the story is built by going back and forth between these three closed spaces, but more than the drama that unfolds at a dizzying pace in each location, it is excellent how the three locations and the people there come together as one even though they are far apart, and try to overcome their fate.
Interestingly, while Tom Hanks was not nominated for Best Actor at the Academy Awards that year, Ed Harris, who played the chief controller, and Kathleen Quinlan, who played Jim Lovell's wife waiting for his return, were nominated in the supporting category instead. Both were central characters in charge of the important scenes of "Mission Control" and "Lovell House." These nominations make us deeply convinced of how excellent "Apollo 13" was as an ensemble drama in which each character's personality stood out, rather than focusing on just one main character.

By the way, Ed Harris once flew into space as John Glenn in " The Right Stuff " (1983), and then in this film he fully supports the astronauts' return, and then again 18 years later in " Gravity " (2013), he made a voice-only appearance as the flight controller who guides the protagonist.
"Apollo 13" is a truly unforgettable and timeless masterpiece, in the sense that it earned him the unique title of "return to Earth contractor" in his acting career.
