Battle with ratings
The first script written by Fey (early titled Homeschool) was considerably more vulgar than the current film, with a fair amount of profanity and the F-word (Regina, in particular, was a character from Goodfellas ). (He was a character with more F-words than Joe Pesci in /90). However, at the studio's request, it had to be released as PG13, so the expressions in some scenes were overwritten.
For example, there is a scene in the cafeteria where Kady is asked to help investigate the attitudes of transfer students. Suddenly, someone asks, "Is your muffin was buttered?", but the original line was "Is your cherry popped?" Also, in the "Burn book" scene where Regina and friends write behind-the-scenes comments about students and teachers at school, Amber D'Alessio made out with a Hot Dog. '', but the original version was more direct: ``Amber D'Alessio masturbated with a frozen Hot Dog.'' In addition to these modifications, other efforts were made to ensure the film was PG-13, such as not showing scenes in which minors were drinking alcohol, and covering the nude statue in Regina's house with ivy. It was done.

On the other hand, there are some lines that survived after the directors fought with the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) at the time. The MPAA rejected the line "But I can't help it if I've got a heavy flow and a wide-set vagina" uttered by a student in the gymnasium. The director requests that the film be deleted, but the director resists, citing `` We Are the Newscasters '' (2004), which was released at the time. Taking advantage of the fact that the film was rated PG-13 despite the scene in which Will Ferrell gets an erection, he said, ``Even though he's just talking about his own body structure from an anatomical point of view, it can be interpreted as a sexual context.'' This is discrimination against women,'' and ultimately succeeded in keeping this line.
Although this work required a considerable amount of revision, the completed film shows no trace of that process, and in fact, the explosiveness of the dialogue is what makes it so interesting. "Get in loser, we're going shopping" "You wanna do something fun? You wanna go to Taco Bell?" "Is butter a carb (Isn't butter a carbohydrate?) and "I'm kind of psychic. I have a fifth sense." The whole story will soon be played out. The most famous line is Gretchen's favorite phrase, "Fetch." This quote was also quoted in Barack Obama's tweet mentioned at the beginning. In the movie, it is explained that it is English slang, but in reality it is not even slang at all, but a fake slang that was made up from scratch.
These lines are still widely distributed as memes and GIFs due to their impact and versatility, and many people may have come into contact with Mean Girls in these ways, even if they are not familiar with the movie.
Why is this work still loved today?
