A safe space that continues to be threatened forever

Roger, played by Peter Fonda, is a motorcycle racer. It's a racing scene from the first appearance, and there's also a scene where he competes with his best friend Frank and shows off his riding techniques. Since there is an off-road bike attached to the back of the camper, I thought for sure that Roger would ride a bike alone at the climax and have a realistic battle with the devil worshipers.

After all, Peter Fonda is an actor who is known as a biker himself, having appeared dashingly on a motorcycle in `` The Wild Angels '' (66) and `` Easy Rider '' (69). However, no matter how much time passes, the booming motorcycle action industry will never come. Roger and his friends stay in the camper, fire rifles, and confront the cult.

Certainly, if Peter Fonda were to engage in unrivaled action alone on a motorcycle, it would be too heroic. He's not a hero like Mad Max, he's just a citizen. The camper is their last safe space (albeit with a rattlesnake), and the crux of the film is to escape from anyone who threatens their safety.

If `` Rosemary's Baby '' is a story about Rosemary's safe space, which is her apartment, becoming smaller and smaller, ``Race with the Devil'' is a story where that safe space continues to be threatened. By the way, Clay Tanner, who plays one of the devil worshipers, plays the devil himself in Rosemary's Baby . It can be said to be a mysterious code that connects the two works.

One last bit of trivia. Director Jack Starrett claimed to have hired actual Satanists as extras, but there was no credibility and this was apparently a publicity bluff. Not only the main story of the movie, but even the behind-the-scenes story is questionable, much like ``The Race with the Devil.'' Isn't that great?
