A Hollywood blockbuster that shakes the viewer's sense of size
While watching a movie, it's common for memories of a completely different work to suddenly come to mind. In my case, it happened most recently with Ant-Man and the Wasp , which is currently in theaters. Even though the story and characters were not the same, the memories of the movie I watched as a child came back to me as if I had been struck by an electric current. What, this feeling... this memory... what kind of movie was that...?
It didn't take long before I heard the title ``Innerspace'' in my head. How nostalgic does that sound? This movie was released in 1987. The movie is already 31 years old. But why did I remember this movie? After watching this film again as an adult, I feel like I understand why.
Needless to say, both films have one thing in common: people become smaller. What still stirred my memory was the action scene of a car driving through the streets of San Francisco. In Innerspace, there is a story in which a villain changes his size to the size of a child for some reason and attacks the protagonist and heroine in the front seat from the back seat of a car. I felt as if I had wandered into this trick art, and the size of it gave me an irresistible shiver. That's probably why I was reminded of the nostalgic yet strange feeling of those days when I saw the lines of movement that ran through the same city while changing size in the latest film, Ant-Man and the Wasp .
