Leading the way in a new generation of comedy

Edgar Wright continued to work with Pegg & Frost on ` `Hot Fuzz' ' (2007) and `` The World's End' ' (13). These two works, which also contain otaku elements, are widely known as the ``Three Flavor Cornetto Trilogy'', including ``Shaun of the Dead'', after the name of the ice cream that appears in the movie. It became so.

Incidentally, in ` `Baby Driver ,'' Wright tried to create a musical-style action production that integrates the beat of the music and the action, and you can see the beginnings of that in ``Shaun of the Dead.'' Not only does the movement of people during the opening credits match the rhythm of the music, but also the car chase scene and the scene where a Dawn of the Dead is hit with a pool cue to the tune of a Queen song.

"Baby Driver" preview

After the success of ``Baby Driver'', there was a lot of attention as to where he would go next, but he chose the documentary of the veteran rock group Sparks, which is only known to those in the know, as his new work, and accompanied Sparks to Japan in the summer of 2018. At the Shibuya Quattro performance in Tokyo, he was seen giving instructions to the cameraman before the performance. In any case, it seems like he hasn't lost his music geek tendencies.

``Shaun of the Dead'' is a British film, but comedies with geeky dialogue between men became popular in Hollywood after this. Good examples include `` The 40-Year-Old Virgin '' (2005), `` The Hangover!' ' (2009), and `` Ted '' (12). This new generation of comedies gained a new genre name, ``bromance,'' and spread throughout the world. ``Shaun of the Dead'' should be remembered as the work that led the way.
