What “writing” and “reading” brought to father and son

The film is directed by David Sheff, a journalist who is known for conducting John Lennon's last long interview before his death, and his son, Nick Sheff, who also works as a scriptwriter for the Netflix drama series `` 13 Reasons Why. '' The series is based on the memoirs ``Beautiful Boy'' and ``Tweak,'' which they wrote respectively.

At the heart of both books is the drug addiction problem that befell his son Nick. Even if you think that you and your child are watching the same events and spending the same time together, what you are actually thinking and feeling is very different. In a sense, the two books, which frankly describe each other's thoughts, can be said to have a relationship similar to the A and B sides of a cassette tape. It was a story that unfolded in the form of sides A and B of the tape.)

“Beautiful Boy” trailer

Originally, they had no plans to publish a memoir. For David, ``writing'' was a daily habit that allowed him to examine the chaos and fear in his mind as a result of his profession. One day, he sent his diary to Nick, who had not recovered from his drug addiction, and asked him to send his diary to him as well. Nick had loved writing since he was a child, and his father knew that he wrote about his feelings on a daily basis.

Although this kind of scene is not depicted in the movie, in reality, they were able to experience the depth of their love for each other through ``writing'' and ``reading.'' He says it was very important for him to be able to stand on the starting line of fighting drug addiction.
