Woody's "midlife crisis"

From now on, I will look at the contents of the work without spoilers as much as possible, but if you want to shut down all information before watching the movie, I recommend watching the movie before reading.

What is “Toy Story 4” about? It is Woody's "inner suffering." Although Woody experienced a breakup with Andy in the previous movie, he wasn't able to The Graduate from him. She tries hard to support her new owner, Bonnie, but her heart remains trapped by the happy memories with Andy and the feeling of loneliness. This film depicts Woody once again facing the question, ``What is happiness for a toy?'' and trying to make decisions about his own life based on his own will.

From the beginning, Woody is surrounded by a sense of psychological crisis, like a ``midlife crisis''. Bonnie no longer chooses Woody as a playmate, and Woody watches from the closet as his friends play with Bonnie. I feel depressed, but there must be something I can do. Woody tries to be the leader of his friends, but there is no vacant position because there is a senior toy who has known Bonnie for a long time. ``When I was with Andy...'' she brings up her experience, but she dismisses it, saying, ``Andy is gone. This is Bonnie's house.''

As we watch Woody desperately try to find his identity, we realize that Toy Story 3 isn't the end. Woody has not yet found the meaning of life. Although he has accepted his fate as a toy, he has lost sight of the meaning of his own life. Buzz's words of concern for Woody, who seems cornered, do not reach him.

One day, Woody is so worried about Bonnie going to a kindergarten trial session that he sneaks into Bonnie's backpack against the wishes of his friends and follows her to the kindergarten... Woody has always been reckless, but in this film, Woody is painfully focused on Bonnie. To be more precise, he's trying to convince himself by only looking at Bonnie.

In the previous series, the teamwork between Woody and his friends was a big highlight, but in this work, that part doesn't work because Woody unconsciously builds a wall around himself. Like a corporate warrior who has lost his place and is tormented between pride and frustration - the current appearance of Woody, who was supposed to have found a new happiness, will weigh heavily on the hearts of fans.
