“Your Name” was created with good intentions. ”, “Weathering with You” exposed to malicious intent

As I have said before, there are many similarities between "Your Name" and "Weathering with You." This makes the differences stand out. The "differences" between this film and "Your Name" can be rephrased as the intention that this film is trying to convey.

The protagonists of both "Your Name" and this film face a "world crisis." However, the way they respond to the incident is completely different. This is where the difference in how the "world" is depicted in the two films comes into play.

Which have you been exposed to more - good or bad? People's behavior changes depending on that. It's not a question of which is right and which is wrong, but the result of acting according to your own feelings. This film teaches us that that's okay. The fact that such a Arrival can be conveyed is undoubtedly due to the royal road of "Your Name.", and it can be said that it was because of this work that the path to a counter-evil story, a strong and powerful expression of a soul that tries to live despite being covered in filth and unwholesomeness, was lit.

It's okay to be selfish. It's okay to embrace only the things you truly cherish. There's no need for forgiveness or anything else. Director Shinkai, who has always portrayed the victims of "isolation," has finally stepped into the realm of the "perpetrators" in this film. This story will be met with mixed reviews in various places. But that's okay. Films are not about morality or ethics. Audiences who watch this film will witness Director Shinkai's mettle as a storyteller.

As an aside, before watching the film, I felt something was off about Director Shinkai, who portrayed rain as something that "connects men and women" in "The Garden of Words," affirming sunny weather in this film. However, that was an unfounded worry. In the film "Weathering with You," everyone wants "sunny weather." Except for one person. In terms of the principle of majority rule, the correct answer is already decided. However, when love is involved, it's a different story. There is only one person who is destined for you. If that person desires it, the common sense of the world will disappear in an instant.

"Your Name" tries to protect the world. "Weathering with You" tries to change the world.

This film is a deliberately controversial work that returns to the mainstream of director Shinkai, who has never walked the traditional path. That is why the love depicted in this film is extremely dirty and incredibly beautiful.
