Surprising similarities between Amblin's films

Now. These alone would be just "bad taste," but there is a reason why he is called "King." The reason for this is also the third ``condition of bad taste.''

Amblin Entertainment is Spielberg's production company, so they produce many works that are ``social dramas'' and ``fantastic and heartwarming.'' But there's one more thing. There is a group of works that have certain common characteristics.

A representative work is the animated film `` America Story '' (1986), whose main character is an anthropomorphic baby mouse. " Empire of the Sun " (1987) depicts J.G. Ballard's childhood. The well-known " Jurassic Park " series. " Small Soldiers " (1998), in which toys attack children. " AI " (01) depicts a child-like robot in the future world. `` War of the Worlds '' (2005), a remake of the original film by HG Wells. CG animation movie " Monster House " (06). " SUPER8/Super Eight " (11), directed by JJ Abrams, etc.

Although the genres vary, they all have one thing in common: they're all movies about children encountering terrible things. In that respect, ``Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom'' can be said to be the extreme north. Indy's little buddy Short Round is forced to work in a mine with many other children while being whipped and even beaten by Indy, who is under a spell. In addition, the child Maharaja of Pankot Palace was also bewitched, and was hit repeatedly with his fists by Short Round.

By the way, this extremely tasteless but highly entertaining adventure action drama ``Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom'' was released in the United States, where until then there were only ``G'', ``PG'', ``R'', and the adult rating ``X'' (later NC17). This is the work that led to the addition of ``PG13'' to its rating system.

In order to appease the MPAA, who were angry that they had made ``Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,'' which is full of cruel depictions, and `` Gremlins '' (1984), in which a small monster dies as a prank, to PG, they said, ``It's all your fault!'' Well then, let's create another level between PG and R!'' Spielberg himself suggested ``PG13''.

The common denominator in many of Amblin's films is that they are films that expose children to terrible things, and that include plenty of tasteless depictions to embarrass the MPAA. Pushing it down is actually one of Spielberg's goals.

and. Children love such cruel movies.
