"Hot Summer Nights" synopsis
1991 was a turbulent year. The Gulf War began and Freddie Mercury died of AIDS. This is the story of Daniel Middleton, who became a "legend" in a beautiful seaside town on the east coast of the United States during a record-breaking summer.
June. There are two main types of people on Cape Cod in the summer. They are rich tourists who come from the city for a vacation, called ``summer birds,'' and poor locals. But Daniel was neither of those things. He didn't grow up in this town, nor is he the son of a wealthy family. People in his position feel small and have no place to belong. Daniel, who had just The Graduate from high school, had recently lost his father, with whom he was close. Unable to shake off her sense of loss and unable to see her son holed up in his room, his mother sent him to live with his aunt on Cape Cod for three months until he started college in September, in order to get a change of pace.
One day, Daniel meets Hunter Strawberry (Alex Roe). He is known locally as a badass and dangerous man. He was expelled from high school and made money as a marijuana dealer. There were also rumors that he had killed someone because of his quick-tempered personality. However, for some reason, the lonely Daniel and the lone wolf hunter hit it off. As the two spend time together, Daniel hooks up with Hunter and they start selling marijuana together. With the addition of the quick-witted Daniel, business started to go well. Daniel gains momentum and expands his territory beyond the town, but the hunters are beginning to sense danger from him.
One day, Daniel happens to meet the most beautiful woman in town, McKayla (Maika Monroe), and they fall in love. However, McKayla's older brother is actually a hunter and is told not to touch his precious sister. Still unable to suppress his feelings for her, Daniel begins dating without telling Hunter. His first love heals the sadness of losing his father, and Daniel gradually regains his sense of self. August. On the day one of the largest hurricanes approaches Cape Cod, Daniel's life is about to change forever...
