``Time Bandits'' What is Terry Gilliam's creativity that turns trouble into legend?

A hit that became a stepping stone to “Brazil”

"Time Bandits", released in 1981, is a fantastic fantasy that Gilliam created with the backing of Handmade Films led by George Harrison. In fact, around this time, Gilliam was working on the original plan for " Brazil " (1985), which was later made into a movie, but the idea was not easily understood by the executives of the movie company, so he decided to explore the possibility of other projects for the time being. So he wrote the plot for "Bandit Q" in about a week.

The story is about a group of dwarfs who escaped the eyes of God and formed a band of thieves, who travel freely through time and space to get their hands on gold, silver and other treasures. The protagonist, a young boy, is drawn into the band of thieves, and they encounter famous people such as Agamemnon, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Napoleon, and even end up riding on the sinking Titanic...

In writing the screenplay, Gilliam collaborated with fellow Monty Python member and beloved Michael Palin. With Palin's help in giving a certain "broadness of perspective" to Gilliam's radical and original ideas, the film has blossomed into a huge hit that can be enjoyed by both children and adults.

This success put Gilliam in the league of hitmakers and paved the way for him to partner with a major studio with Brazil (although it also marked the beginning of a Inferno , also known as the Battle of Brazil).
