I like the character Pee-wee Herman. Short hair, reddish cheeks and lips, like Tintin from the Belgian cartoon, a gray suit with a red bowtie, white loafers, and a strange smile. Although inspired by Vittorio De Sica's `` The Bicycle Thief '', it is still a Pee-wee style road movie. The adventure involves being picked up by a fugitive's car and a truck driven by a ghost driver, meeting a diner waitress and being stalked by her boyfriend, and breaking into a Warner film studio where the bicycle he's looking for is being used as a prop. or causing a commotion. You can already see Burton's stamp on Pee-wee's house, the stop-motion special effects inserted here and there, the atmosphere of the props, etc., but especially the scene near the end where he rescues animals from a pet store that is on fire. I think this is typical of Burton, who loves dogs and other animals. Here we learn that Pee-wee hates snakes, but the way he rescues them with a bundle of snakes in his hands even after passing out is both funny and kind.
By the way, Paul Reubens plays the Penguin's parents in Batman Returns , along with Diane Salinger, who plays the aforementioned waitress.
