What I learned about the role of a director from ``Jurassic Park''

Q: And this time, the dinosaur characters will also have some moving scenes. However, the performance is calm and not intrusive.

Trevorrow: That's a balance consideration. I value realistic reactions and emotions, not only for dinosaurs but also for human characters. I don't want to overly manipulate the audience's emotions. As a film director, I focus on how I can connect with the audience's emotions through story and direction. If you are moved, it is because you are connected to something in your heart. Whether it's a human being or a dinosaur, it breaks down the walls between myself and what's on the screen, and I love that kind of work.

Q: Is that calmness your personality?

Trevorrow: What do you think? I also make emotional movies (laughs). Some viewers take the movie straight, while others view it from a cynical perspective. In the case of the ``Jurassic'' series, it has to appeal to everyone from children who simply receive it, to generations like us who watch things with skepticism, and because we are aware of many points of view, we are required to make calm judgments. It may be.

Q: Having been involved in the three “Jurassic World” films, how did the message you wanted to convey in the works change?

Trevorrow: I think he's changed quite a bit over the course of the three films. The first work depicts the worst situations that arise from people's greed for money. The second work focused on the dangers of moving animals into the wrong environment and where they should be. And this time, it's about coexistence between humans and the natural world. How can we humans destroy our world? What happens if we don't pay attention to and respect others? I've sprinkled hints for that into my work, and I've tried to convey the most important things at the end of the film with hope.

Q: You must have been a teenager when you saw the first Jurassic Park movie. How does it feel to be directing the series now?

Trevorrow: Since then, I was a boy who was obsessed with acting and music, and I also dreamed of becoming a film director. So when I watched `` Jurassic Park '' with the big head of a movie critic, I felt like I was a child again, and I remember being baptized in reverse. The ultimate success of a film director is to make you forget that a story is being told and immerse yourself in the feeling of being on an adventure with the characters. The joy and rewards of being a director may be different from my ideals... I learned that fact. I would be extremely happy if children received inspiration from my films, and I think this cycle will continue to repeat itself.

Q: Lastly, what is your greatest joy as a film director?

Trevorrow: I enjoy collaborating with many people, from writing to filming. How could I, as a director, convey what we all feel in an effective way? There is a deep sense of satisfaction when we see the finished film and see how the world reacts to our intentions.
