In 1993, `` Jurassic Park '' can be said to have revolutionized movie history. Audiences around the world were thrilled to see the dinosaurs visualized through a combination of CG and animatronics. Even though the title changed from "Park" to "World," the "Jurassic" series continued to be a huge hit. And in the summer of 2022, the sixth installment, "Jurassic World: The New Ruler," will release dinosaurs around the world and depict the "symbiosis" between humans and dinosaurs, which is clearly different from the past series. A different drama unfolds. The main cast of `` Jurassic Park '' from 29 years ago also return for this final chapter. Director Colin Trevorrow, who directed the film following `` Jurassic World '' (15), came to Japan just before the film was released in Japan. We asked him about his love for the epic series, what he wanted to convey as a director, and the behind-the-scenes stories behind this filming.

An intimate collaboration with three legends

Q: After directing `` Jurassic World ,'' you wrote the screenplay and served as executive producer for `` Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom '' (2018), and now you have returned to directing.

Trevorrow: I returned to directing on my own volition, not because anyone around me begged me to do it because it's the final chapter. What I wanted to convey in this story is how genetic science is linked to our current world. Michael Crichton's novels have already written about the crisis of our planet and the fact that we have lost respect for the natural world, so I was convinced that I could create a work that could incorporate his warnings for humanity. I wanted to play that important role, so I decided to direct it myself.

Q: In keeping with the spirit of Crichton's original, is it possible for the three Doctors from Jurassic Park , Sattler (Laura Dern), Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) and Grant (Sam Neill), to return to the film? I feel like it was important.

Trevorrow: At first, there was only hope that these three would return. What was most important was to think about the story in which they were needed, rather than showing off their faces as if they were making a special appearance. I made a personal rule that I would not offer any three people to appear until that was completed. Where have they been and what have they been doing since Jurassic Park 29 years ago? By organically intertwining each person's past with the story, I wanted the audience to share in their time together.

Q: Due to the influence of the coronavirus, it seems that the cast and staff, including the three cast members, lived together in the same hotel during the production period, but this did not result in a close collaboration. mosquito?

Trevorrow: Yes. I feel like the rehearsals and subsequent discussions were very thorough. Especially this time, I feel like I created the lines together with the cast. I think it will be subtitled or dubbed when it is released in Japan, but I left everything, including the fine nuances of the dialogue, to the cast. As long as the content doesn't change, I often have the tone changed to speak more naturally to the character. For example, if the character is 65 years old, I think it reflects the fact that he has lived on this earth for 65 years. This may be the first time in my field that an actor's own experience has been brought to this level in a role.
