Sissy Spacek, the epitome of professionalism
Sissy Spacek played the title role of Carrie White. Did you know that she actually had a chance to play Princess Leia in Star Wars (1977)?
At first glance, ``Carrie'' and ``Star Wars'' may have nothing in common, but they do have a deep connection. Star Wars director George Lucas was looking to cast unknown actors to film his epic space opera. Naturally, they should hold an audition to discover new talent, but Lucas is a very shy boy. Believing that he couldn't do a good screening on his own, he asked Brian De Palma, whom he admired as a big brother, to hold an audition for Star Wars in conjunction with Carrie. It's a well-known story among enthusiasts that De Palma helped with some scenes in Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope.)
If we were to stretch our imaginations, there was a possibility that Sissy Spacek, who played Carrie, could play Princess Leia, and Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia, could play Carrie! If you think about it carefully, both films are based on the supernatural powers of "psychic power" and "force." If Sissy Spacek were to use the Force, the Imperial Army would be wiped out in no time.

But in the end, casting Sissy Spacek as Carrie was the right choice. She is amazing in this movie. The scene from the opening scene where Sissy Spacek is completely naked and goes frantic after having her first period is amazing! There is also an anecdote that many of the girls in the locker room were hesitant to get naked, but as soon as De Palma showed her a nude scene, they all decided to do it.
Yes, Sissy Spacek was just such a professional. In order to fully become Carrie, she purposely avoided socializing with other actors and stayed in her trailer, and spent three days filming with her mother covered in pig's blood. In the final scene, the hand that reaches out from the ground and grabs Sue's (Amy Irving) arm is not her stunt double, but Sissy Spacek herself. For her performance, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress that year. She won the coveted Academy Award for Best Actress for `` Sing! For the Love of Loretta '' (1980), and became a talented actress in both name and reality.
