What the interactive production process of “The Fall” brought us

The great despair in my life led to the creation of this film.

The project, which had been in the "concept" stage for a long time, suddenly took a turning point one day when Tarsem's girlfriend, with whom he had hoped to spend the rest of his life, left him. You might think it's immature to be heartbroken after losing a love affair, but in reality, Tarsem was so exhausted that those around him could not bear to watch. His younger brother could no longer bear the situation and suggested, "Let's make that movie you've been thinking about for a long time."

The project, which had been merely an imagination spreading inside his head, was now taking a major turn towards realization. However, things did not always go smoothly from this point on.

First of all, nothing can be done without casting the leading girl. Whenever Tarsem traveled around the world to shoot commercials, he sent staff to local elementary schools to search for the perfect girl. After many years, he finally found a girl from Romania.

She can't speak English well. She's a chubby The Handmaiden, not doll-like or cute. But she listens intently to what the other person is saying, and responds with a response you never expected. Meanwhile, Lee Pace was chosen to play her co-star. He would later become famous for playing Ronan in " Guardians of the Galaxy " (2014), but at the time he was practically unknown. The chemistry between the two actors cast in this way is what becomes the core of this film.
