Rosamund Pike, the unconventional actress who was perfect for Fincher

However, David Fincher, who was invited to direct the film, thought that Reese Witherspoon was not suitable for the role of Amy. He wanted an actress like Faye Dunaway. He said, "I feel that she has a harsh and painful experience that she cannot share with anyone." Indeed, she is the polar opposite of the cute and friendly Witherspoon.

Among the other potential candidates were actresses Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, Emily Blunt, Rooney Mara and Olivia Wilde, but Fincher ultimately chose Rosamund Pike.

She made her silver screen debut as a Bond girl in " Die Another Day " (2002), and has since appeared in a wide range of films, including " Pride and Prejudice " (2005), " Surrogates " (2009), and " Johnny English " (2011), as well as other literary, sci-fi, and comedic works. In her private life, she was engaged to Joe Wright, the director of "Pride and Prejudice," but she also had a dramatic episode of canceling their wedding at the last minute. Fincher may have been attracted to her unconventional nature hidden behind her cool beauty.

When Rosamund Pike was cast, she took inspiration from Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct (1992) and Nicole Kidman in I Can't Stop (1995) and worked thoroughly to prepare for the role. She even went through the painful process of gaining and losing 13 pounds three times.

Well, she has the acting spirit of Robert De Niro. What's more, she apparently even practiced with a doll to prepare for the sex scene with Neil Patrick Harris!

Thus was born Amy, one of the most unrivaled characters in film history.
