Terrence Mann is JD Salinger

Writer Terrence Mann, played by James Earl Jones. The original story was written by real novelist J. D. Salinger is playing that role. In reality, Salinger disappeared from the public eye and lived a retired life, so when it was made into a movie, he did not acknowledge his appearance and the setting was changed.

In the film, Ray invites Terrence Mann to Fenway Park, and he explains that his reason for doing so is, ``I saw Kinsella's name in your novel.'' In fact, the name of the young man who appears in Salinger's short story "A Young Girl in 1941 with No Waist at All" is Ray Kinsella, and he is similar to Holden, the main character of "The Catcher in the Rye ." When I rewatch the encounter scene between father and son with this in mind, I feel my heart tighten.

Furthermore, there is also this anecdote. Thirteen years after ``Field of Dreams'', director Phil Alden Robinson was set to direct `` Total Fears '' (2002), starring Ben Affleck as Jack Ryan. During the meeting, Robinson said that Affleck greeted him by saying, ``It's nice to see you again.'' Why did Ben Affleck say "again" when this was supposed to be his first job? Director Robinson, who was concerned about that word, asked Affleck, ``What does 'again' mean?'' The aforementioned scene where Terrence Mann and Ray watch a baseball game at Fenway Park.
