A shocking depiction that is different from Haneke and Trier.

For example, if this is a horror, thriller, or splatter genre, we can expect a series of extremely brutal scenes like the Saw series. However, ``The Painted Bird'' is about a young boy who escapes the Holocaust, loses his family, and continues his harsh journey alone. At first glance, it seems like a human story, but wherever he goes, he is met with an extremely tragic fate. It's like going through Inferno.

When I think of works other than horror and thrillers that are shocking and vivid enough to hit one's nerves, I think of works by Gaspar Noe, Lars von Trier, Michael Haneke, etc., but ``The Painted Bird'' shows a wide variety of scenes. This shocking scene, set during World War II, also symbolizes the cruel and inhuman acts of humans that continue to occur around the world today. At least that's what it makes you think, so it's universal.

This feeling may be similar to Pier Paolo Pasolini's `` The City of Sodom, '' which was released in 1975, 45 years ago. One of the most controversial films in film history, in which fascists force young boys and girls to engage in perverted acts in a mansion in Nazi-occupied Italy. The film was banned in Europe and America due to its excessive torture, scatology, and exposure of genitals, but it also contained a harsh criticism of modern society.

``The Painted Bird'' also uses excessive expressions to warn against human malice, which remains unchanged through the ages, with a focus on ``radical discrimination and exclusion of those who are different from ourselves.'' The original title, ``Painted The Birds,'' refers to an entity that is different from its surroundings.

Czech director Václav Marhoğlu shot ``The Painted Bird'' on black-and-white 35mm film. Thanks to this, what leaves an even greater impression than the shocking scenes is the majestic beauty of the visuals.

The original work `` Painted Bird '' is even more controversial, with many radical expressions. Director Mulhour fell in love with the original story and spent 11 years completing the film. The shooting period alone was two years. This is a thorough attempt to capture the growth of the main character, a young boy, on film.
