Why did it have to be in a sitcom style?

Before delving into the content of Episode 9, let's summarize the various facts that were revealed at the end of Episode 8. The basic premise is that Vision has not been resurrected. He is merely an illusion created by Wanda using her reality-altering powers. So why has Wanda been able to do such a thing, in other words, become more powerful than ever before? One reason is the mental stress caused by Vision's death, and also the fact that she ended up on the land she had purchased as her final home with Vision (it is brilliant how the necessity of the land, Westview, comes up here).

After Avengers: Endgame (2019), Wanda, who was planning to bury Vision's body, visits SWORD, the American public institution where his body was taken (obviously, this is a nod to SHIELD, which appears in the MCU series. The introduction of the "sword" after the "shield" makes you grin.) However, Vision's body has been "dismantled" for research purposes, and when Wanda sees him, she despairs, saying that she "cannot feel him."

After that, when Wanda arrived at Westview, where she was supposed to nurture her love with Vision, she lost control of her powers due to the mental shock, and not only did she activate her reality-altering ability throughout the town, but she also created Vision (limited Vision) who could only live in this world. This was the beginning of the turmoil that occurred in Westview.

In other words, Wanda was unable to bear the harsh reality and used her powers to create a utopia. So why did the series start with a 1960s-style sitcom (though with each episode, the scenes move closer to the present, moving to the 60s and 70s)? This was related to Wanda's past, which has not yet been revealed in detail.

Wanda was originally a Sokovia war orphan (incidentally, her parents were killed by a weapon once developed by Tony Stark) who stood in the way of the Avengers in " Avengers: Age of Ultron " (2015). She was modified by the evil organization Hydra and gained superhuman abilities, but in episode 8 of "WandaVision," the details are revealed and an episode about her parents is depicted. Wanda's father worked selling DVD software overseas. Because of this, her house was full of American sitcoms. For Wanda, watching "The Dick Van Dyke Show" with her family was the happiest thing and a symbol of togetherness.

However, her parents were killed in the conflict. After losing her brother Pietro (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Wanda continued to watch nostalgic sitcoms even after joining the Avengers, and Vision, who was worried about her, set aside time to watch them with her, which helped her gradually recover. But then she loses her beloved Vision. When she is once again engulfed in despair to the point of her ego collapsing, it makes perfect sense that the world she creates is in the style of a sitcom, a symbol of "memories."
