“Scarlet Witch” is redefined in this work

Another thing that attracted attention in "WandaVision" was the appearance of Pietro/Quicksilver (Evan Peters) from the " X-Men " series. As you know, the film rights to "X-Men" were originally owned by 20th Century Fox, and Pietro in the " Avengers " series was played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

However, the theme of Phase 4, to which WandaVision belongs, is the "multiverse." In other words, there is a possibility that characters from parallel worlds will come together. The groundwork for this was already laid in Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019), and fans were excited when characters from Sam Raimi's Spider -Man appeared, saying, "The multiverse has finally come true!"

Therefore, when the X-Men version of Pietro appeared in WandaVision, many viewers thought it was a surprise that confirmed the multiverse had begun to move in earnest, but it turned out to be an illusion created by the witch Agnes (Kathryn Hahn), whose true identity was revealed in episode 8. In other words, as of episode 8, it seems that strictly speaking, Pietro's appearance is not in the multiverse. In episode 9, it turns out that he is a Westview resident named Ralph Boehner, who was being controlled by Agnes.

Another thing that has sparked speculation is how Wanda came to have supernatural powers. In episode 8, it is revealed that Wanda gained her powers by adapting to the Mind Stone (the source of Vision's powers and an out-of-place artifact sought by Thanos, the ultimate enemy) in a Hydra laboratory. What was the vision she saw at that time?

In this regard, it is speculated that this is Scarlet Witch (Wanda's hero name in the original work) based on the characteristic silhouette. If so, is Wanda not Scarlet Witch? Or will she herself become Scarlet Witch? In the latter case, it is thought that "something" has happened here that has led to the activation of abilities beyond telekinesis and mind control.

The above will be resolved in episode 8. Agnes calls Wanda "Scarlet Witch", indicating that Wanda herself will become the Scarlet Witch. This raises the question: what exactly is the "Scarlet Witch" in the MCU?

Agnes describes the ability to create something from nothing, like a reality-altering ability, as "chaos magic." Does this mean that Wanda had the qualities of a witch? Then, in episode 9, Agnes tells Wanda, "You are written about in the Darkhold (forbidden book)." The Scarlet Witch is something that is "made," has no companions, and does not need spells. She is an existence that will destroy the world. Wanda was a person who was destined to become the Scarlet Witch, a higher being who can become both a god and a devil.

So what is interesting is how this will relate to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), who also uses magic. I hope that this will be connected in future works.
