Jimmy Wong, the one and only kung fu star

The iron ball in "Go Go Yubari" played by Chiaki Kuriyama and the "Zukyuun!" sound effect when it is released. The use of the song "Super16" by the German band " Neu! " is based on " One-Armed Kung Fu vs. Flying Guillotine " (1975), which Jimmy Wang directed, wrote, produced, executive produced, and of course starred in. It's a quote.

Jimmy played the lead role in martial arts films and became a big star with the hit ``One-Armed Hissatsuken'' (1967), which was inspired by the Japanese `` Zatoichi'' and featured a handicapped swordsman as the main character. However, the film production company he worked for at the time, Shaw Brothers, was known for its low pay, and no matter how successful the film was, actors were still paid a monthly salary. Frustrated by this, Jimmy pitched himself and offered to direct the movie Roar! Dragon wake up! He directed and starred in ``Jaguar '' (1970), which became a huge hit. This is the first film to feature a ``pugilist'' who fights with his bare hands without using weapons, and is therefore known as the first kung fu film in the history of cinema. Jimmy became the one and only Kung Fu star who was even called the ``Emperor Giant'' until Bruce Lee came on the scene.

Jimmy, unlike Bruce Lee, does not seem to have actually mastered kung fu; his stance is unsteady, his core is unsteady, and his movements are not very sharp. The way he fights is so charming that it can sometimes seem silly. However, the reason why he remains a force to be reckoned with is the extremely rich and original entertainment value of his works.

Among them, ``One-Armed Kung Fu Anti-Air Flying Guillotine'' is a masterpiece that fully demonstrates Jimmy's characteristics. The mixed martial arts tournament that takes place in the movie and the Indian fighter's freely extending arms are the inspiration for the popular character ``Dhalsim'' from the ``Street Fighter'' fighting The Game series. Also, the way the one-armed Jimmy uses every possible (despicable) means to fight back against the strong blind monk who wields the assassination weapon ``Flying Guillotine'' is full of charm that would be too good to make him the main character.

By the way, the low pay at Shaw Brothers extended to many young staff members and extra actors, and those who couldn't make ends meet had no choice but to take up ``black'' jobs such as debt collection and land transfers. And it seems that Jimmy was very active in ``that field.''
