A scene of a piano placed on the seashore that will remain in your memory along with the music.

In retrospect, it's strange that Nyman wasn't even nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score. Nominated films that year included the award-winning ``Schindler's List,' ' ``The Firm , '' ``The Age of Innocence, '' ``The Fugitive ,'' and `` The Remains of the Day .'' There's a difference between a score that stands the test of time and remains in the memories of many people and an Academy Award rating.

In terms of music, I saw ``The Piano'' with friends at the theater the day before Nirvana 's Kurt Cobain committed suicide with a pistol. In other words, it is said to be the last film of his life.

Holly Hunter, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as Ada, took piano lessons when she was nine years old, so she performs many of the scenes herself. Due to the setting, Ada does not speak in the movie, but Holly Hunter's voice can be heard in the narration. Anna Paquin, who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Flora, was only 11 years old when the film was released and was unable to see the R-rated film. In a 2009 TV interview, he confessed, ``I recently watched it for the first time.''

The most striking thing about ``The Piano'' is the desolate scenery that makes you feel like you are at the end of this world. As it expresses the perspective of Ada, who came from Scotland to New Zealand on the other side of the world, the place captivates the viewer's heart as if it were another world. The suffocating smell of the dense fern and primeval forest seems to waft through the footage. And when you think of ``The Piano,'' there is a piano left alone on a beach where dark clouds hang over and the wind blows. The cut, which symbolizes the work, has a strong impact and lingers in the memory of the viewer. New Zealand still has many primitive landscapes, which led to this unique visual experience.

The filming location was Karekare Beach and surrounding virgin forest on the west coast of the North Island, about 40 minutes by car from New Zealand's largest city, Auckland. With its expanses of black sand and roaring waves, the coast is a place that will give you the illusion of being transported back in time, centuries in the past.
