Postlethwaite, the core of the masterpiece

In addition, what keeps us fascinated by this story is the humorous words and human expressions that come out of our mouths when we feel overwhelmed by hopelessness or sadness. Body.

The music of the brass band added a sense of dynamism, and Pete Postlethwaite was always at the center of it all. His resolute yet human presence always transcends the distance between screens and seems to speak intimately to the hearts of each of us. All of this is included, making him a symbol of indomitable spirit.

Pete traveled to the area 10 days before the shoot to learn about the local people's lifestyle and accent. Not only that, but we also try to gain warm trust and cooperation by interacting with people as much as possible, getting to know them, letting them read our scripts, and telling them how we are trying to tell ``their story'' without exaggeration. This episode is also very typical of him.

As I was writing this manuscript, I suddenly remembered 10 years ago when I heard the news of his death.

After my eyes went dark for a while, I regained my composure and for some reason remembered the man in his later years who played a florist in " The Town " (2010), with a skinny appearance. A figure that contained a frightening sharpness inside. And “Brassed Off' Danny, lying in a hospital bed, seemed to be quietly trembling as his friends played 'Danny Boy'.

These two roles are so different that it's hard to believe they're being played by the same person, but both of them are imbued with a wonderful sense of age, way of life, and dignity. Is this what it means to breathe soul into a role? Every time I look back at the films he has appeared in, I am strongly reminded of this, not just in these two films, but in any film or performance.

We must not allow his famous performance, which was loved by the people, to be lost in history. Especially “Brassed Off” is a masterpiece in which he, who was often used as a famous supporter, played the leading role. I never thought that 25 years later, the world would be faced with such an unpredictable situation, but it is precisely in these times that I am able to rewatch this film and appreciate what Postlethwaite is so powerfully trying to convey. , can be perceived in a more universal way. That's what I think.
