"The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun" Synopsis
The story is set in the editorial department of French Dispatch magazine in a fictional town in 20th century France. This magazine is published by a branch of an American newspaper company, and is filled with talented journalists with a variety of quirks, gathered by a famous American-born editor-in-chief. It has gained popularity for its one-of-a-kind articles that deeply explore everything from international issues to art, fashion to gourmet food. However, the editor-in-chief suddenly died of heart palsy while working, and his will decided to close down the publication. What is the story of this last and unexpectedly funny, and unexpectedly tear-jerking, memorial issue for the editor-in-chief, who never knows what will pop out?

Authorship. Novelists, artists, musicians, film directors... We use this word to refer to the "style" or "color" of famous creators. In some cases, this is due to an individual's sense of aesthetics, while in others, like a movie director, the artist's identity is created by a team that includes an art director, cinematographer, screenwriter, etc. Artistry exists not only in the visual aspects such as texture, color sense, and composition, but also in the inner aspects such as the outlook on life and death, emotional description, and word choice.
Director Wes Anderson, whose new film ``The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun'' will be released in Japan on January 28th, can be said to be a true writer. Just by hearing his name, you can tell that he is known for his symmetrical screen composition, parallel-moving camera, colorful colors such as mint green and smoky pink, and his way of photographing miniature buildings, which is one of his masterpieces. The image of ``The Grand Budapest Hotel '' (14) may immediately come to mind.

The latest work is also produced by production designer Adam Stockhausen, who has been collaborating since ` `The Darjeeling Express '' (2007), costume designer Milena Canonero, who has been collaborating with him since `` The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou '' (2004), and `` Fantastic Mr. FOX ''. (09), composer Alexandre Desplat, who is essential to Wes's works, editing engineer Andrew Weisblum, and a cast that includes familiar faces such as Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, and Tilda Swinton.
Looking at the lineup of staff and cast, it seems like this is the first time in about four years since "Isle of Isle of Dogs " (2018), and the first time in a live-action film about eight years since "The Grand Budapest Hotel" that the "Wes group" has returned. I'm sure there are many people who are excited. However, this work is a work with an indescribable texture that mixes both the traditional style--the author's style, which gives a sense of "nostalgia," and the "newness" that stands out, which is a bit different from what has come before. It is finished.
It's hard to say for sure until we see his next film, Asteroid City, which was shot in Spain, but it's a potentially watershed film in Wes Anderson's filmography. This also means that new elements may be added to his artistry in the future.
In this article, I would like to unravel the "nostalgia" and "newness" that exist in "The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun" and consider its place in Wes's works.
