The most famous interrogation scene in movie history

This scene became famous due to the aforementioned gossip, and became a symbol of ``Basic Instinct.'' It's arguably the most famous interrogation scene in movie history. However, it should also be remembered that this scene became etched in the minds of the audience precisely because Jan de Bont's light production was brought to full use.

The first thing that stands out to me is the unnaturally large space for an interrogation room, and the unique arrangement of characters, with five male police officers and Catherine, a woman, facing each other. In fact, Jan de Bont says, the aim was to create the effect of Catherine standing on stage. “While she appears to be on stage, the interrogators sit in the dark. The interrogation room of any police station would have plain walls and fluorescent lights. It created a picturesque atmosphere. The light from the ceiling also has a seductive atmosphere.''

Checkered shadows fall over the men's faces, and their eyes become dull. In contrast, Catherine, wearing a pure white dress, exudes confidence, and the spotlight creates a truly stage-like effect. The camera moves freely throughout the scene, and the tense exchanges are divided into cuts just like an action movie.

In it, the famous shot where Stone's legs are recombined appears, ``Stone's genitals are visible.'' The men looking at it are covered in checkered shadows, like pitiful prisoners trapped in a cage of sexual desire. There couldn't be a more perfect scene of men surrendering to a femme fatale.
