That Academy Award winning film is a lie!
The famous story behind this film is that at the time, Cronenberg was fighting with his wife over divorce and custody, and that he projected his feelings at that time onto this film. The main character, Frank, is Cronenberg's alter ego, and there is an unbridgeable gap between Frank and his wife, Nora. "This movie is my version of ' Cramer, Cramer, '" Cronenberg said at the time.
As movie fans know, " Cramer, Cramer " (1979) is a film about the rebirth of the bond between a husband and wife who have filed for divorce, and was directed by Robert Benton and starred Dustin Hoffman and Meryl, which won an Academy Award in 1979. A masterpiece co-starring Streep. However, Cronenberg dismissed the film as a "lie". The opportunistic developments in Hollywood movies seemed very unrealistic to him. "If you've ever experienced the pain of divorce, you know that's a lie. It scarred me deeply," Cronenberg said.
In true artist style, Cronenberg created The Brood as a work that reflected that pain. And that too in the form of a horror movie that suits me. The doctor treating Nora is somehow trying to provoke her anger under the guise of treatment. At the same time, an abnormality occurs in Nora's body. Tumors that occur in the bodies of patients treated by doctors. Meanwhile, the creepy Monster commits even more crimes. Frank uncovers a surprising secret while trying to protect his daughter Candy.

Let's take a look at Cronenberg's personal life in more detail. At the time, his wife tried to take their daughter, Cassandra, to California on the pretext of attending a religious event. Cronenberg proactively protects Cassandra. The court ruled that his daughter should be kept with him. "I just wanted my wife to leave, or I would tear my daughter away," Cronenberg recalled.
We don't know exactly what happened between the couple at the time, but we can imagine that Cronenberg was very frustrated. In the early stages of writing the script, Nora's lines included many harsh words uttered by his wife, which Cronenberg said was a difficult task to write. No more torturing yourself, this is a movie - and the script is being rewritten to suit Cronenberg's wishes.
The character Nora, who was inspired by his wife, is in a sense a victim, but also a villain. The doctor in charge discovers that the power of the patient's anger can produce tumors that can give rise to Monster. And Nora was a perfect example of that. While controlling her mind, the doctor creates a group of small Monster. And the Monster that is Nora's "metaphor for anger" is killing the targets of her anger one after another.
An artistic masterpiece that goes beyond the framework of horror.
