Tom Cruise's work when he was unknown
`` Top Gun: Maverick ,'' currently in theaters, has received good reviews. I really enjoyed it, but it also reminded me of when I saw the previous film, `` Top Gun '' (1986), 36 years ago. Come to think of it, `` Top Gun '' was seen at the time as a symbol of America's rightward shift... In the 1980s, the Reagan administration pursued a hardline foreign policy, but how does this film look in the current era of the Ukraine crisis? Will the liberal media criticize films depicting military heroes as heroic, as they did 36 years ago?
In the 1980s, in addition to `` Top Gun '', films starring action stars such as `` Commando '' (1985) and ` `Rambo III '' (1988) were often cited as hot spots. I remember that even in a carefully crafted human drama like `` The Departure of Love and Youth, '' there were a few voices of criticism. To put it in an extreme sense, most movies made in Hollywood are entertainment, and there is nothing wrong with viewing them as such. I believe that `` Top Gun, '' in which Tom Cruise's youthfulness shines through, is a fresh and exciting youth movie both then and now.

``Taps'' (1981), which Tom Cruise starred in when he was unknown, was also a youth film that was described as a hawkish movie at the time.
