Marie Antoinette then

“I was very sensitive at the time. I was 23 years old and I was the lead in this film, so it was painful to see this film being vandalized. Honestly, my feelings were hurt because it seemed like people didn't like it. I thought people would love it more because I had created something really special." (Kirsten Dunst)* 3

``Marie Antoinette'' was reportedly booed at the Cannes Film Festival. According to Sofia Coppola, the booing from some journalists that they saw at the press preview was actually written up as a big deal in the article. The fact that this work, which depicts gossip based on outside images, received exaggerated coverage and unfair treatment by the media may be proof that the world has not changed much since the 18th century. This work is recovering its reputation in the current evaluation. Sofia Coppola was the "face" of the film and felt strongly that she had to protect the young Kirsten Dunst from criticism.

As seen in Peter Bogdanowicz's `` The Blonde and the Coffin '' (2001), where she played the role of the famous silent film actor Marion Davis, Kirsten Dunst in ``Marie Antoinette'' has a unique appearance. The silhouette is so beautiful that you can only imagine that it is loved by the movie. The facial expressions change little by little during the "ritual of changing clothes" that is repeated every morning. Only she at this age could play this role. The original author, Antonia Fraser, said she was thrilled that the girl she had imagined was there.

Sofia Coppola said it took her 15 years to regain the same energy level she had for this film. He says that his next work, `` Somewhere '' (10), was a reaction to ``Marie Antoinette.'' And from their words later, it is clear that the two, who shared the same sensibilities like close sisters, were proud of this work.

"I was able to see it on the big screen with my daughter at a screening a few years ago and was so happy to see it through her eyes and see how obsessed she was with it. (Sofia Coppola) *3

``It's very interesting that that movie has served as an inspiration for subsequent historical works and TV dramas , such as ``The The Truth'' (2020~) and `` Her Majesty's Favorite .'' (18) is the same. If it weren't for Marie Antoinette, I don't think Yorgos [Lanthimos] would have made that movie." (Kirsten Dunst) *4
