Inspiration from Muhammad Ali's art book
Thus began the full-scale process for the creative duo. Puzzling over what to do, they first focused on the film's element of boxing. Underworld "gambling boxing" appears multiple times in the film, and Brad Pitt also plays a buff fighter who stirs up trouble in the ring. Using these as a starting point, they wondered if they could find a good idea. Then, they came across a book of art called " Muhammad Ali: Ringside ," which provided them with a great deal of inspiration.

There were many two-color posters related to Muhammad Ali, the fighter who dominated the era. Each of them was designed dynamically to depict Ali's facial expression and brave figure, with uplifting hand-drawn letters dancing brilliantly between them. "This is it!" Hilton and Cross shouted from the bottom of their hearts. These posters, which extracted and colored the charm and individuality of their subjects to the fullest extent, were the answer for the two, who were searching for a way to make each character shine.
As a result, they came up with the idea of "making individual posters for each character." Of course, since the title sequence is a video, it would be more accurate to call it a "moving poster." In other words, the method they used was to "freeze the screen (like a poster) at the most unique moment in each character's appearance scene, and add impactful text."
Thus, the concept of weaving together posters (still images) with the names of each main character was created, and when Guy Ritchie received the presentation, he liked the idea, so the official go-ahead was given.
Would your impression of the movie be different without the title background?
