Jurassic Park's completely new depiction of dinosaurs and the amazing CG revolution

Without “Hook”, “Jurassic Park” would not have been created!?

Ironically, however, this ``hook'' played a major role in the birth of ``Jurassic Park .'' Originally, Spielberg was planning to make `` Jurassic Park '' as his next film to direct after `` Always '' (1989). However, filming was delayed due to repeated revisions to the script, and during that time he was contracted to work on another project called ``Hook.''

However, thanks to Spielberg's irregular response and postponement of filming, Dennis Mullen and ILM were given time to make the CG dinosaur a reality. In particular, the problem with the texture of the skin, which stood out as a neck, was resolved through the production of `` Death Becomes Her '' (1992), which used CG to create a human neck that rotates once.

In addition, Spielberg, who worked on widescreen for the first time in a long time with ``Hook,'' said that if he wanted to depict the contrast in size between dinosaurs and humans, it would be better not to use widescreen, but to use Vista size, which is wide vertically. I was able to do it. This pursuit of visual reality through aspect ratios bore fruit in later works such as `` Schindler's List '' and `` Saving Private Ryan '' (1998). In recent years, even Spielberg himself has acknowledged the failure of ``Hook'' (*), but I would like to take this opportunity to mention some of the failures that helped restore the film's reputation.
