The lyrics evoke nostalgia for the world of First Love.

I think everyone can agree on the compatibility between "Melody" and Bee Gees ' existing songs. ` `In the Morning '' literally plays at the beginning of the day, with a London morning in the background, making us aware that the movie is ``beginning''.

And then there's `` Melody Fair .'' The name of the main character's melody is included in the title of the song, and it is thought that the heroine's name was probably decided by ``Mutagariki.''

Melody fair, won't you comb your hair?

You can be beautiful too.

Because you can become more beautiful

Along with these lyrics, the camera lovingly follows the melody as it walks through a residential area in Lambeth, London. The scene in which she exchanges a goldfish for clothes she secretly took from home and visits her father, who is in the pub in the middle of the day with the bottle containing the goldfish, is a perfect match between the visuals and the music in ``Melody.'' It can be said that it was a great scene.

It vividly conveys Melody's feelings, such as Tracy Hyde's cuteness (in a good sense, but a bit of an uncool girlish feel) and her relationship with her father. ``Melody Fair'' in ``Melody'' is, to put it bluntly, one of the greatest matches of characters and songs in movie history.

` `Love Somebody'' expresses Daniel's elation of ``falling in love with someone'' as he runs at full speed while thinking about the melody during a foot race at a sports day.

Everyone wants to preach about the right way to live.

But there's no point if I can't live with you

In terms of conveying the theme of the movie, ``Love Somebody'' has a greater impact than ``Melody Fair.'' Another important theme of the work, ``friendship,'' is represented by `` Give Your Best .''

Even if everyone leaves, I'm the only one who's different

I'll give everything to my dear friends

It's an innocent sequence in which Daniel and his friend Tom go to play in the center of London after school, but as these lyrics play, the sudden friendship between the two is formed and will last a lifetime. It gives me the illusion that it will continue, and my heart warms. "Give Your Best" is played again in the scene where Daniel and Melody skip school to play at the amusement park.

And what really tugs at your heartstrings is the scene in which Daniel and Melody go on their first date in Brompton Cemetery on the outskirts of London.

We used to laugh while others used to play

Don't ask me why the time has passed us by

We were small and the fir tree was big

you and i were in love

Don't ask me why, that was a long time ago

The word "used", which appears not only in "Wakaba no Koro" but also frequently in Bee Gees lyrics, evokes thoughts of "that's how it was back then." I feel that the adult audience identifies themselves with the children who play the main characters, and unconsciously stimulates a sense of nostalgia.
