An ambitious work that concludes the early breakout trilogy.

For director M. Night Shyamalan, ``Signs'' (2002) is a ``break'' work in his early breakout two-part series that followed `` The Sixth Sense '' (1999).

Although they are completely different types, Shyamalan conceived of `` Umbraree '' (2000) while editing ` ` The Sixth Sense,'' and ``Signs'' while editing `` Umbraree .'' From here to here, from here to there. Perhaps it is this person's unique style of letting the pendulum of creativity swing wildly as he develops ideas for new works. And the biggest hardship for Shyamalan is that no matter how hard he tries, it will not be easy to overcome the high wall set by this trilogy.

Shyamalan is once again attracting attention with the hit movie `` Mr. Glass '' (2019), but his work has some major characteristics. First of all, he deliberately chooses subjects that are not even covered in B-movies these days. By having another story run alongside or intertwine with the main story, it brings a twist to the structure. Furthermore, there is a common tendency to use big-name actors who the audience can easily identify with and empathize with. In the end, ``Signs'' can be said to be the most typical Shyamalan film, as it hits all of these points.

"Mr. Glass" trailer

In ``The Sixth Sense,'' Shyamalan weaved a story centered around a boy who could ``see spirits,'' and in ``Umbraree,'' Shyamalan spotlighted a man with special abilities. What he chose for his ``Signs'' is the ``crop circles'' that were common all over the world from the 1970s to the 80s. Shyamalan, who was born in 1970, must have been quite excited by the news reporting these paranormal phenomena. These childhood memories are forever etched in my mind. This became the seed of an idea, which took root in the ground and sprouted. Although he did not know the truth behind paranormal phenomena, now that he is an adult, he has blossomed by sublimating the mysteries into his own version of fiction.
