There is also an advertisement that says “Information wanted!” It all started with the compilation of memories from 50 years ago.

By the way, ``Chariots of Fire'' has no equivalent to the original work. It all started when legendary producer David Putnam came across a small mention of the "Pastor Runner" in a book about the Olympics.

At the end of the 1970s, there was a trend in British films that favored a cool and elegant style. Putnam wanted to break with that trend and seek a material that was energetic and that would overflow with the lives of the characters. That's when I came across this description by runner Eric Liddell. What an emotional episode, filled with unwavering faith. Putnam immediately began collecting materials about Eric Liddell from various sources and seriously considering the possibility of making the film into a movie.

However, this happened over 50 years ago. In parallel with gathering relevant materials, we will also need to ask for help from those who are familiar with the Paris Games and its participants. He and screenwriter Colin Welland placed advertisements in magazines and newspapers saying ``Information Wanted!'' and continued their efforts to gather more detailed information. Everything started by digging up history and memories in this way, and a story specific to the "two gold medalists" was constructed based on the materials they managed to gather.

Meanwhile, young actors are gathering one after another after being told to ``bring exercise clothes'' for auditions. On set, the focus was not only on acting, but also on testing physical ability. The participants were forced to participate in the race one after another, and some were exhausted before the finish line and raised the white flag saying, ``I've reached my limit!'' Others ran fast but their form was so poor that it was difficult to talk about them. The work is said to have been extremely difficult.

However, as the cast was carefully selected, everyone in this film, which was made up of unknown actors, gave truly wonderful performances. Particularly beautiful is the scene where the national team swims along the water's edge. Coupled with composer Vangelis ' extraordinary feat of coloring a classic tale from the 1920s with state-of-the-art synthesizer music, it has now become so legendary that it has left its name in film history.
