Achieving the ideal cast by traveling to multiple studios

Fincher is a director with a keen eye for the way he uses actors. `` The Social Network '' (2010) actively uses next-break actors such as Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Rooney Mara, and Armie Hammer.

This work became Jesse's masterpiece, Andrew became known worldwide for `` The Amazing Spider-Man '' (2012), and Rooney collaborated with Fincher again for `` The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo '' (11). Armie starred in Clint Eastwood's " J. Edgar " (2011) and built a career that continued with " Call Me by Your Name " (17).

In Zodiac, he teamed up with Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, and Robert Downey Jr. Nowadays, they all appear in Marvel movies and are extremely popular, but at the time, studios were reluctant to make these three the main characters, and Fincher had to move between several studios.

Come to think of it, even though Gyllenhaal received high acclaim for his role in `` Brokeback Mountain '' (2005), he may have been unsure about starring in a blockbuster that cost an estimated $65 million (`` Brokeback Mountain's production cost was estimated at $14 million. Ruffalo was gradually gaining recognition through his roles in `` Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind '' (2004) and `` Collateral '' (2004).

Downey Jr. had a perfect career in terms of popularity and acting ability, but he only made a full-fledged return to the film industry in 2003 after being arrested multiple times due to repeated drug problems. It was a difficult situation for the studio to release GO (in fact, the casting for Iron Man was made possible because director Jon Favreau refused to budge). Still, I'm amazed at director Fincher's tenacity and foresight in not giving up on his hopes and casting Gyllenhaal, Ruffalo, and Downey Jr. into the cast.

The film follows over 10 years of people whose lives are destroyed by the Zodiac incident, including newspaper cartoonist Graysmith (Gyllenhaal), talented The Journalist Avery (Downey Jr.), and detective Torsky (Ruffalo). He made the cut and fully met director Fincher's expectations. The fact that the audience is not left behind, even though this is a work that deliberately does not add any intonation, is largely due to the outstanding performances of the three actors.

As a result, ``Zodiac'' overcame concerns such as being ``long,'' ``dark,'' ``heavy,'' and ``anxious about the cast,'' and became a hit at the worldwide box office, grossing over $84 million. It still maintains a high rating of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, America's largest movie review site.
