The horse riding action can be seen as a continuation of " John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum " (2019), and the scene where a terrorist dives from the rooftop of a building into the pool of a neighboring building is the same as " Detective Conan: Countdown to Heaven " (2001). The plot where enemies are blown away by missiles can be said to be similar to " The Rock " (1996), and many people will have been reminded of this film when they saw the toilet fight scene in " Mission: Impossible - Fallout " (2018). In " Captain Marvel " (2019), the main character punches Pop from this film at a video rental store.

It is unclear whether the above films were influenced by "True Lies," but at the very least, they must have left a strong impression on the audience. The dynamic action typical of director Cameron, such as the spectacular fighter jet scene mentioned above, evolved further in this film and led to the sequel " Titanic ."

The significance of this film is also great in terms of comedy. Although it is a remake, it gives a new image and expands the scope of expression by adding elements of a comical character such as a spy who chokes when smoking, breaks binoculars in anger, and is a boring father at home to the epitome of cool. The film's remarkable sense of balance between action and comedy will no doubt have served as a model for subsequent action comedies such as " Mr. & Mrs. Smith " (2005), which has many similarities in setting.

In Schwarzenegger's career, this film, " Junior " (1994) and " Jingle All the Way " (1996) contributed greatly to his foray into comedy and gained him a new fan base.
