Summary of Christopher Nolan's works: A genius who combines outstanding authorship with megahits
7. “Inception” (10) 148 minutes
(c)2014 Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.
This film, directed by director Nolan, who rewrote the history of film with " The Dark Knight ," is another masterpiece that renews history. The bizarre setting of "entering the dreams of others and stealing ideas" and the large-scale visual expression that makes it convincing. In "The Dark Knight," Nolan mainly revolutionized the portrayal of characters, their spirit, and the story structure, but in this film, he mainly creates scenes that blow your mind, mainly in terms of the visuals.
The film's visuals have evolved tremendously, with dynamic sequences in which cities and buildings rise up, sci-fi compositions in which sleeping people float in the air, a fight in a rotating room (it's shocking that the set was actually filmed while rotating), and an action scene on a snowy mountain. The film's approach to time has become sharper than ever, and slow motion is used effectively to cleverly match the audience's sense of time to the tempo of the film.
The screenplay is so intricately designed that it can be called a legitimate evolution of " Memento ," and neither the audience nor the protagonist (Leonardo DiCaprio) know whether the scene unfolding before their eyes is a dream or reality until it is explained to them. This is what stirs up the audience's thrill and keeps them hooked. As in "Memento," the film also incorporates a tragic element to heighten the drama, while at the same time incorporating a smart touch in which the "top," which appears as an evasive item, becomes a key element throughout the film. The film itself has a multi-layered structure.
Ken Watanabe, Cillian Murphy, and Michael Caine reunite the Batman team. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, and Marion Cotillard, who starred in this film, also participated in The Dark Knight Rises.
