A story from a son to his father
Movies, opera, plays, TV dramas, commercials, PVs... Baz Luhrmann is a master artist who continues to embody his magnificent imagination to the fullest while using a variety of expressive methods. Among them, ``Moulin Rouge!,'' which he worked on in his late 30s, is like a gigantic castle that stands at the center of his career.
The visual appeal and sense of scale instantly captivate the viewer. And he is a powerful man who greedily packs all the elements into one thick flow. Although his unconventional style is a little different from Hollywood, there are also many characteristics that are unique to Australia. However, upon closer examination, the family environment in which Baz Luhrmann was born and raised was also unique.
My mother is a ballroom dance teacher. His father ran a farm, a gas station, and even a movie theater. Although it was a very small rural town, there was always a vibrant culture around Buzz. He was a kid growing up right in the middle of it. Needless to say, the dancing he started doing at a young age led to his directorial debut, ` `Dancing Hero '' (1992), but he was also attracted to the many famous movies he saw at movie theaters when he was young. Musical movies in particular have always been a favorite of mine. If he hadn't grown up with these parents, Baz Luhrmann would never have climbed the ladder to become a master craftsman.

His father, Leonardo, who had such an influence on Luhrmann's life and generously encouraged him at every important point, passed away just as filming for Moulin Rouge! was about to begin. Before he died, his father said this to his son Buzz, who visited him at his hospital bed.
"What are you doing here? Now go back to work. Go back and make a movie."
It is said that these words encouraged the director, who was on the verge of giving up during the harsh production of this film, and gave him the strength to overcome many hardships. If you think about it, this work is a story about a young man who dedicates his feelings to the person he loves at the end of a turbulent century. Although it is a conventional love story, if you look at it from a different perspective, it may not be limited to the love between a man and a woman, but may even contain deep feelings of gratitude and love from a son to his father.
