The prototype of the repeated “play of recovery of a man who has hit rock bottom”

Lately, there have been times when I've felt like saying this. What's up!? Director Cameron Crowe.

He used to shine so brightly, but in the past few years he has become quieter, and it is difficult for him to release new works. Which current manager would you like to see come back to the forefront? --If you ask movie fans, I'm sure many will mention Crow's name.

The turning point where Cameron Crowe suddenly became lackluster is actually clear. In 2010, he divorced his partner of 22 years, guitarist Nancy Wilson of the rock band Heart , who also composed music for his films. This isn't some kind of guesswork that insensitively connects his personal life with his career; it's shockingly clear that Crowe has gone out of whack since then. However, those who are familiar with Crowe's films will be able to understand the extent of this pain, as the director has continued to portray extremely pure forms of love.

In other words, the current Cameron Crowe is like the protagonist of his own movie. If I were to describe it accurately, it would be "the main character's first half mode." This is because Crowe repeatedly depicts ``the rebirth of a man who has hit rock bottom''.

The beginning (original model) of this pattern was the popular 1996 work ``The Jerry Maguire.''

“The Jerry Maguire” preview

The main character is Jerry McGuire (Tom Cruise), a talented sports agent who works for the international sports management company SMI. The company is one of the largest in the United States in its industry, employing 72 professional athletes, and is busy supporting the world's most glamorous world. However, in accordance with the company's policy of only pursuing profit, he was disappointed in his business-like approach to work, sometimes covering up scandals involving the players he was responsible for.

"Am I a man-eating shark in a suit? I'm sick of doing dirty work." Then, one night, Jerry suddenly comes up with an idea and writes a 25-page mission statement for the company in one go. The late Dickie Fox, the original great sports agent (a fictional character played by Jared Yussim, a lawyer who was an executive at Sony Pictures Entertainment at the time), said, ``The origin of this job is the relationships with the players.'' It incorporated proverbs such as '', and bravely appealed for a return to the original spirit of ideals.

However, that statement turned out to be a disaster and he was fired. Jerry was forced to start over as a freelancer at the age of 35. He leaves the company with a big mouth, but the only people who follow him are a goldfish in the aquarium and Dorothy Boyd (Renee Zellweger), an accounting clerk and single mother of a young son. It was just... By the way, Dorothy is impressed by the idealism advocated by Jerry, but it's funny that she refers to that statement as a "memo."
