Three endings that existed
Three endings for ``Seven'' were considered during the production process. The first is Somerset shooting John Doe. In the second scene, after Mills shoots John Doe, the screen goes black and the movie ends (the end credits). And the third version is the definitive version, in which Mills, who shot John Doe, is escorted away in a police car and Somerset quotes Hemingway.
The film company reportedly wanted the version that Somerset would shoot. The Seven Deadly Sins planned by John Doe will be completed when Mills commits the crime of rage and kills John Doe, but at least it is based on the intention of preventing it. The idea is to reduce the number of bad endings as much as possible. However, Brad Pitt, who played Mills, objected, saying, ``If it were me, I would definitely pull the trigger. That's impossible.'' In the end, this proposal was shelved.
A version in which the second screen immediately fades to black was something director David Fincher was keen on. When we actually edited and tested that version, many viewers were confused by the abrupt ending, and the results were disappointing. . This proposal was also never adopted.
After all these twists and turns, the current ending was finally reached, but Fincher himself doesn't seem to like it. In the first place, he doesn't like the idea of quoting lines.

By the way, the helicopter aerial shot scene in the wilderness at the end was an additional shot. Fincher, who had used up his budget for the previous shoot, showed the preliminary edits to the film company, emphasized the need for aerial cuts, and negotiated persistently to win additional funding. However, due to scheduling conflicts with Brad Pitt and other cast members, he had to film as a substitute. Moreover, since it had been several months since the last photo was taken, the green plains had all dried up and turned completely brown. . The color was adjusted in post-processing and the look was unified to brown. It seems that additional photography took extra time and money.
Additionally, the director of photography, Darius Khondji, was unable to schedule the film, so Harris Savvides, who was in charge of The Game and Zodiac , shot this aerial scene instead. Harris also appeared in the movie ``Pride,'' playing the role of a 911 telephone operator who receives a call to report a murder.
