A new interpretation that Chip and Dale were "actors"

In the first place, "Chip 'n' Dale" is a series about a friendly pair of chipmunks who get into trouble with their fun friends. "Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers" is a series that seems to be in the same genre, but it is fundamentally different. The Chip and Dale in this work are actors. The animated series that we have been watching up until now was a show that they were "acting".

The story depicts the two young cats at high tempo, from when they first hit it off at school, forming a comedy duo, to going on to the entertainment industry and having their own TV show. However, Dale, feeling inferior about being treated as a supporting character, decides to appear alone on a new show without telling Chip, causing a rift in their relationship. Since parting ways, Chip and Dale have never been friends, with Dale being an unsuccessful celebrity and Chip working as a top employee at an insurance company. Then one day, their old friends find themselves in a difficult situation, and Chip and Dale are reunited.

The "actually, it was all an act" pattern can also be seen in the end credits of the " Toy Story " series and " Monsters, Inc. " (2001), and meta-style developments can also be seen in " Ralph Breaks the Internet " (2018) and " Enchanted " (2007). However, it is rare for the "original" Disney to offer such an interpretation of a historical character.

It may be possible to handle it in a multiverse-like way, saying "It's an event that occurred in a parallel universe different from the one we know," but I can't help but feel a certain determination in the part where they didn't make it an independent story, but instead set it up as the previous works = the show. The story itself of a disbanded duo reuniting and regaining their bond can be said to be a classic, but it is quite surprising that Chip and Dale ended up in such a state.

But this film's challenges don't stop there. For one thing, in addition to characters from Disney films, a large number of characters from other studios also appear. Moreover, there is a strong element of humor, and as I will explain later, "pirated copies" are at the center of the story. And the other is the visual expression that is linked to the story. To put it simply, "Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers" has a worldview that mixes live action, 3DCG, 2D animation, and everything else. In the following sections, we will focus on these two aspects.
