The Thing is the first in my apocalyptic trilogy

Director John Carpenter regards The Thing (1982) and the following films, which he made over the next 12 years, Paradigm (1987) and In the Mouth of Madness (1994), as his apocalyptic trilogy. Although there is no direct relationship between the stories of the three films, Carpenter seems to use the word "apocalyptic" in the sense that they all depict the end of the world.

The apocalypse is the Book of Revelation, which is placed at the end of the New Testament. It is an abstract depiction of the end of the world where God and the devil fight, and is said to be the only prophetic part of the Bible. However, if you think about it, Carpenter has repeatedly depicted the collapse of world order not only in the three films mentioned above, but also in " The Shining " (1995), " Escape from LA " (1996), and " Ghosts of Mars " (2001). In other words, it can be said that he is a writer who has always depicted the end of the world. One episode of the TV series " Masters of Horror " directed by Carpenter is even titled "The End of the World."
