Marilyn Monroe starring role considered

Some people may not know this, but Miss Holly Golightly, played by Audrey, is a high-class New York prostitute. She is free-spirited and wants to reach the top of something. You wouldn't know that she was a prostitute just by watching the movie. I'm sure you'll think of her as a certain lady in the social world. However, in Capote's original story, Ms. Holly was portrayed in a way that suggested she was a prostitute, and Capote reportedly wanted Marilyn Monroe, a close friend of hers, to play Holly in the film.

Marilyn Monroe, who is now famous, rose to fame as a typical sex symbol by starring in films such as Billy Wilder's `` The Seven Year Itch '' and `` Some Like It Hot '' (1959). Marilyn initially expressed interest in playing the role of Holly, but producers Jurow and Shepherd decided that Marilyn was not suitable for the role. They needed a tougher, stronger woman to play Holly.

Despite her appearance, Marilyn was said to be a little girl on the inside, and her poor memorization of lines was well-known in the industry. Marilyn also had a chronic habit of being late, so hiring Marilyn was judged to be a high risk. One theory is that Marilyn, who strongly disliked the image of a sex symbol, refused the role, but in any case, Capote's wish for ``Breakfast at Tiffany's,'' starring Marilyn Monroe, never materialized. There wasn't.

Now, let's go back to the beginning of the movie. As the sun rises in the morning, a bewitching woman in a little black dress, her body clearly visible, steps out of a taxi. Now, when I think about it again, I do wonder why she was wearing such a sexual dress at such a time. In the movie, the fact that she was a prostitute was completely concealed from the promotional stage. This was partly influenced by the Hays Code, but mostly to protect Audrey's image.

As a condition of being cast, Audrey requested that some changes be made to the script to soften the fact that her character was a prostitute. George Axelrod accepted Audrey's request and rewrote it to a milder expression. Due to the various constraints, the film was reborn as a romantic love story of a dreaming woman seeking freedom, very different from Capote's original work. As a more familiar story.
