The appeal of Tony Scott's hard, passionate, and soulful films
In August, I think about Tony Scott, the film director who passed away during this hot season.
He did not strive for elegance like his older brother Ridley Scott, nor did he exhibit a lukewarm attitude that pandered to commercialism. Because of his trademark fast-moving images, he is sometimes taken lightly, but in fact, all of the works he has left behind are solid, passionate, and full of soul.
In Scott's works, various elements are intricately intertwined. But it never descends into chaos. Because the direction of the production is extremely clever, the situation strangely becomes a single, easy-to-understand plot in the audience's head, and is smoothly understood and absorbed. Another characteristic of Tony's works was that he tried to eliminate unnecessary explanatory scenes as much as possible and convey the core of the work as quickly and directly as possible to the audience.
All of these are nostalgic. I want to see that moving image again. I feel sad when I think that his new work will never be shown in theaters again.
