Cooking and eating scenes that have attracted so much attention that a recipe book has been released

The drama "Hannibal" has a very unique position, but its "aggressive" attitude in terms of visuals is also amazing. Particularly noteworthy is the horrifyingly brutal depiction of murder. This work features many pleasure killers who consider murder as an art form, and who not only kill but also decorate.

If you think about it, in the 1990s and 2000s, when the movie ``Silence The Silence of the Lambs '' was released, there were many films that featured bizarre murders, such as `` Seven '' (1995), `` The Bone Collector '' (1999), and `` American Psycho '' (2000). Many masterpieces were produced and released. This work inherits that trend, but is even more brutal than ever before in its portrayal of brutality.

"Seven" preview

Over the past 10 years, even in Japan, works depicting bizarre murders have been appearing on terrestrial TV, such as the anime " PSYCHO-PASS " (2012-2020) and the drama " ON: Abnormal Crime Investigator Hinako Todo " (2016). Although the number has increased, I feel that ``Hannibal'', which was broadcast from 2013 to 2015, has also escalated the expression to suit the mood of the times (although it is harsh for the top class...).

Specifically, the types of corpses that appear include those with their backs peeled off to resemble angel wings, those whose bodies resemble stringed instruments, those whose skin is tied together, those whose bodies have been cultivated, and many others with grotesque expressions. On parade. In addition, there are elements of the story being cooked and eaten by Hannibal(or Hannibal feeding it to his guests), and there are a number of quite demonic expressions. Moreover, Will, the profiler, relives the process of killing and disposing of them, so almost every episode is bloody.

Of course, ``Hannibal'' is not just about being ugly, it's about putting ``beauty'' into the harshness. Although it is an evil act that is morally and ethically unforgivable, he pursues ``art using corpses'' as a form of expression. In addition, when the depiction of a "pendulum" is inserted in the visuals, time goes backwards, and Will appears at the scene of the murder just before it occurs and relives the crime (the blood stains are removed). The spirit of visual experimentation can be seen throughout the film, such as in the vivid depictions of Will (whose expressions are vivid) and in the deer that symbolically appears in front of Will, where the line between reality and fantasy has become blurred.

The drama `` SHERLOCK '', whose first season was broadcast in 2010, revamped subsequent mystery dramas with tricky visual techniques, but the subsequent ``Hannibal'' also set the standard for ``the limits of depiction'' with harsher expressions. It can be said that this is a work that pushes the envelope.

What's also worth noting is the special cuisine and dining scene. In ``Hannibal,'' much time is devoted to scenes in which Hannibal is busy cooking, and each episode's title is also the name of the dish. In the second season, there is a playfulness in that the dishes are all inspired by Japanese food, such as ``Kaiseki'', ``Takiawase'', and ``Kanomono''.

Hannibal's kitchen is also designed to reflect the creator's design, and the refrigerator is lined with human flesh carefully sorted by organ. Hannibal uses them to create a spectacular dish and enjoys it with a blissful expression on his face. And sometimes they serve home-cooked meals to guests they invite to their home. It is truly cruel to watch innocent, good people take human flesh into their mouths and sneer at them.

At first glance, the scene depicts a meal depicted in sophisticated images, but as soon as you start to think about the ``meat'' used there, the balance between beauty and ugliness quickly shifts. It can be said to be a beautiful yet chilling scene that symbolizes this work. Mikkelsen studied under a food coordinator and performed all the cooking scenes himself.

As a side note, the many human meat dishes in this work have become such a hot topic that a recipe book, ` `Feeding Hannibal: A Connoisseur's Cookbook, '' has even been published. The cooking and eating scenes in ``Hannibal'' are also the ``flower'' of this work.
