A story born from collaboration at a restaurant

Many of Wes Anderson's works depict a special group of people with a particular focus. The depiction of the characters in the camera angle so close together that it looks like a group photo, the horizontal movement of the camera, and the cross-sectional view of the space are his trademarks. Something like that.

What makes Anderson interesting is how he follows these ideas while completely changing the narrative style and structure for each work. His filmmaking can be said to be the work of creating not just a story on the surface, but a complete "world" itself from the ground up.

Among them, his fourth full-length feature, ``The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou'' (2004), is a unique and beloved work. Anderson's new scriptwriting partner is Noah Baumbach, known for his work on The Squid and the Whale (2005). We meet at a restaurant called Bar Pitti in New York every day around 1:00 or 2:00 p.m. We sit at the same table and discuss ideas into the night, taking detailed notes on everything. In this way, the world of ``The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou'' gradually took shape.

“The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” preview

In other words, this work was not born out of a solitary work in which I was glued to my work desk and groaned. I'm saying that.

I write while taking a two-meal break in between, while I can constantly hear lively conversations from the surrounding tables, and the scent of gourmet food tickles my nostrils. This work, or rather Anderson's work, is a creative world that was born surrounded by such a loving environment, and was created by expressing his own ideas and listening closely to the reactions of his partner in front of him. The atmosphere is filled with the feeling of being given the ultimate gift.
