Brody's drama ends when he touches the ocean.

Naturally, the greatest cathartic moment for the audience comes in the big explosion scene at the end, but if we focus on the character of Brody, the points we should look at change somewhat.

Interestingly, while the other characters are fighting to the death, Brody is focused on detailed work and does not take the initiative in fighting. He also refuses to touch the water. Then, at the very end, the cockpit is flooded and the sharks come close to attacking, and the outer wall of the ship collapses, throwing him soaking wet into the sea. At that moment, he overcomes the trauma he has been carrying, and finally, the screen shows his brave figure holding his rifle and cocking the hammer.

Here he faces something, fights, and overcomes it. This one scene is packed with the depiction of one man "putting his past behind him."

In this way, this film not only uses the latest technology to depict unimaginable creatures, but also brings each of the characters' dramas to a proper conclusion, both mentally and situationally. It is never ostentatious, but is instead subtly included. Although people say that a story is unnecessary for a disaster film, the film never neglects the details. This skillful nuance and touch may also be what has elevated Spielberg to the status of a future master. Those who are going to watch the film for the umpteenth time should definitely keep this in mind as they enjoy the film.
