From a novel that represents a generation to a movie that represents a generation

The original work was published in 1996, and is based on Chuck Palahniuk's novel of the same name, which captures the life-sized emotions of young people at the time, along with the violence. Novels that realistically resonate with the emotions of young people are born all the time, and I was shocked when I first read them, as well as novels from the 1980s such as ` `Bright Lights, Big City '' and `` Less Than Zero. '' It made me think of influential novels like. However, although these two works were made into movies, the truth is that they did not have the same impact as the novels. Among the best-selling modern novels of the 1990s, `` American Psycho '' was also made into a movie, but it was also unsatisfactory. So, at first, I didn't have high expectations for the movie version of "Fight Club."

The project was originally brought to Trainspotting director Danny Boyle. However, Boyle was involved in a project to adapt Alex Garland's best-selling novel `` The Beach ,'' which was published in the same year as ``Fight Club, '' so the project never materialized. David Fincher was chosen to replace him as director.

Fincher's first feature-length directorial work, Alien³ (1992), was labeled as the biggest failure in the series, but as a new director who had to reflect the wishes of a major studio, there was a limit to what he could do, and he received unfavorable reviews. I can't help it. Taking advantage of this reflection, he decided to make a work that conformed to his own vision, and achieved success with `` Seven '' (1995), which he completed while gaining creative freedom at a non-major studio. `` The Game '' (1997), which he produced after being re-promoted to the majors, also received positive reviews and was gaining momentum.

When interviewed for the ``The Game'' campaign in Japan, he said, ``I can't make any excuses for the bad reviews of ``Alien³,'' but I can refute any criticism regarding ``Seven'' and ``The Game.'' He was holding his chest out. How does he cook “Fight Club”?
