Two geniuses, Spielberg and Williams

This most famous Hollywood "film director x composer" tag team was formed in 1973. At the time, Williams was mainly working for Universal, and an acquaintance introduced him to Spielberg, who was working as a TV production director for the company. Spielberg had previously imagined Williams to be a big name around 80 years old because of the depth of his scores, but when he actually met him, he was surprised to see how young he was (Williams was about 15 years older). During this first meeting, Spielberg asked him to compose the music for " Duel 2. " Since then, their long-running collaboration has continued for over 40 years.

The two have been talking about "Close Close Encounters of the Third Kind" for over a year since production began. Their strong bond and trust can be clearly seen in the dramatic final scene. Williams wrote the music while watching rough edits of the footage, which had no special effects at all. It is said that Spielberg was then guided by his music to weave the final footage (including special effects).
