"The Matrix Resurrections" Keanu Reeves Everything about "The matrix" is special to me [Actor's Interview Vol.18]
Lana's radically changed shooting style
Q: Has Lana's photography style changed over the past 18 years?
Keanu: It's not a level of change, but a drastic change. Since she met cameraman John Thor (Academy Award winner for " Legends of the Fall " (1994) and " Braveheart " (1995)) during " Cloud Atlas " (2012), she has learned the importance of natural light and how to use it. In the previous three films, she was staring at the monitor, but this time she was standing with her back to it while checking the monitor. She was always thinking about how to incorporate natural light and never left the side of the camera. It was like she was on a three-legged race with the camera. It was a sight that I could never have imagined from the old Lana.
Another thing that surprised me was how he started to value improvisation. He follows a routine of meeting, rehearsal, and shooting, but when it comes to the actual shoot, he says, "Now, just go with your feelings and do it freely!" I was so surprised. So in terms of shooting style, he was a different person.

Q: How was the action? This time, Chad's action team, 87 Eleven, was in charge of the action design.
Keanu: The action design choreographer for this film is Jonathan Eusebio. We worked together on " John Wick " (2014) and " John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum " (2019), so we know each other well. Tiger Cheng Fu, who I've worked with on the previous three films, was my main instructor. Tiger was very enthusiastic and showed off a variety of his special moves without hesitation (laughs). I also had help from Eric Brown, who was also a trainer for the "John Wick" series. I think it was a big help to learn about the East and West approaches from them.
So what we were aiming for was a different kind of action from the John Wick series, a return to the kung fu style, so to speak, so the training was focused on kung fu.
